your light still shines...
We live life around so many women, and we realize that it is the same all over the world. Young college girls, with hopes and dreams. Like hidden treasure chests... with ideals and goals to achieve. That´s how Neda's story began, he was the only daughter among three brothers, with fantastic dreams of being a singer and maybe in a near future, she could be a tourist guide in Turkey. A girl, like your daughter or mine... with a sticky smile and an exotic beauty... learning languages, with a fiancé with whom I can imagine, had dreams of having a home of their own. I can picture her - smiling in her house, telling her parents and brothers all the stories of what she dream to be... and to do...
On june 20th, at 6:30 am she was driving her car, in order to participate in one of the protests that were being held in Teherán, as a result of the electoral fraud. She wasn´t involved in any political movement, she just wanted to be present... to make a stand, to give her presence to establish that she didn´t agree with what was going on in her country.
Standing outside of her car, with her music teacher by her side... a bullet crash into her chest... piercing her heart. Like if it was planned that her life stopped that day... and with it her dreams... lights went off...
The media could´n avoid filling with the tragic images of her death all the newspapers, tv news and internet... she was the first victim... so many innocent ones have followed her in this fate... and even when her light was shot for a moment... Neda is still shinnig... and when her name is heard, we can only remain in silence for a moment... and think about that beautiful smile, and that life that is no more... and keep in mind Neda´s ideals for her country: the things must be better a change is needed.
To all women in the world, to Neda´s mother.. to Neda wherever she is... a tribute... your light still shines....
